Dr. Arielle Schwartz specializes in the treatment of EMDR and complex PTSD. She is the author of five books. In this interview with Rotem Brayer, we discuss her most recent book: The Complex PTSD Treatment Manual: An Integrative, Mind-Body Approach to Trauma Recovery (2021). Dr. Schwartz explains why somatic work is so important in treatment of complex PTSD and how EMDR therapists can incorporate somatic work into EMDR therapy. She shares examples of somatic interventions from her book.
Dr. Arielle Schwartz is a clinical psychologist, EMDR therapy consultant, somatic psychotherapist, and internationally sought-out teacher. She is the author of five books, including The Complex PTSD Workbook, EMDR Therapy and Somatic Psychology, The Post Traumatic Growth Guidebook, and, most recent, The Complex PTSD Treatment Manual. Her integrative mind-body approach to therapy includes relational therapy, parts-work therapy, somatic psychology, EMDR therapy, and therapeutic yoga for trauma.
