In this video, Karby Allington-Goldfain and Sue Seiler, both Internal Family Systems consultants and EMDR approved consultants explain the natural integration of the IFS model into EMDR therapy. Sue and Karby explain a topic we’ve already explored in the past — with Mariah Rooney who talked about EMDR and IFS and with Rachel Walker who explained the relationship between EMDR, parts work, and structural dissociation. Sue and Karby explain the different roles of parts according to the IFS model, why this knowledge is necessary for EMDR therapists, and how to create a seamless flow when integrating EMDR and Internal Family Systems therapies.
Ad de Jongh is a world-renowned expert, psychologist, and professor specializing in anxiety and behavioral disorders. He is the visionary founder of EMDR 2.0. His expertise and passion have inspired therapists worldwide, making him a leading figure in the trauma therapy world. Ad’s work continues transforming lives, giving hope and healing to those in need.
After 20+ years as a professional flutist, Sue went back to school to become a therapist. Sue found EMDR quickly and also found she was meeting clients parts in every session. This lead her to IFS. Sue has found that IFS became more than a therapeutic modality, it has become a way of life. She is offering a hybrid practice at this time and has two clinicians in her practice that are both EMDR and IFS trained.
After her first career as a registered dietitian, Karby started her own cleaning business as a single mom. She then began her career as a therapist and became an EMDR enthusiast before she was licensed. Karby learned of Internal Family Systems in graduate school and after a few years of private practice was able to afford the IFS Level 1 training. The combination of these two powerful approaches has been life changing for Karby and her practice. Karby has recently relocated to Leadville living at 10,000 feet and working remotely. She maintains her Denver office with two amazing clinicians who see children and families in person offering both IFS and EMDR.
