Advanced EMDR: Navigating the Spectrum of Dissociative Responses Cohort 1 off to start on January 19th! 😮🥳🎉

Transform your complex trauma practice by learning how to safely identify clients with dissociative disorders, including DID, and determine if they require short-term or long-term stabilization before initiating EMDR Phase 4. You will be ready to begin working with clients with dissociative disorders, including DID, and ready to benefit from advanced classes on dissociation with our new course on EMDR & Dissociative Disorders Course with Dorothy Ashman!

In this comprehensive, cohort-based course, Dorothy introduces you to various types of dissociation, including Dissociative Identity Disorder, and diagnosing and working with dissociative disorders in ways that will not overwhelm fragile clients.

Join Dorothy Ashman, an expert with over 25 years of specialized experience in trauma and dissociation, including extensive EMDR practice with severe dissociative disorders. Drawing on her experience and training, including with Dr. Richard Kluft, Dorothy will guide you through understanding, recognizing, and safely working with dissociation in your EMDR practice.

➕Additionally offers 9 Clinical ASWB ACE CE credits for $40

– For those who would like to receive ASWB ACE CE credits, the course must be completed, followed by an application and payment of an additional fee. A link to apply will be provided at the end of the course.

This course is designed to provide you with the essential skills needed to navigate the complexities of dissociation and build a solid foundation for effective treatment, even before pursuing more advanced training.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  1. Name the Different Types of Dissociation. You will understand the spectrum of dissociation and become familiar with the types of dissociation clients may have and how each protects the mind, alongside understanding how the conceptualization and diagnosing of dissociation progressed through the past few hundred years.
  2. Assess Dissociative Disorders: Learn to administer and interpret the DES (Dissociative Experiences Scale) to appropriately conceptualize treatment with clients who have dissociative disorders.
  3. Discuss Dissociation with Clients: Develop the ability to discuss dissociation and its treatment with a new client.
  4. Identify and Map Internal Parts: Learn about meeting and identifying the Self-States (Parts) of a dissociated/fragmented internal system, including how they identify themselves through different jobs/roles, and how using simple drawings (maps) can help therapists understand the internal organization of the system.
  5. Strengthen Internal System Cohesion: Learn to increase co-consciousness with the Conference Room visualization and create internal structure with The Internal House visualization. This also includes learning tools for enhancing safety and teaching Parts how to control “coming forward” and “stepping back”.
  6. Apply Stabilization Techniques (EMDR-Phase 2): Utilize the Flash Technique as a stabilization tool to reduce the intensity of past emotions and process past trauma, and become familiar with how to use the Finding Solid Ground program and Workbook during early treatment to further stabilize the system in preparation for EMDR processing. Learn how to help clients reduce derealization and depersonalization.
  7. Implement Containment Visualizations: Discover the use of containment visualizations, such as the “fog curtain,” to limit other Parts from experiencing unprocessed emotional pain from a Part keeping pain hidden.
  8. Integrate EMDR Trauma Processing: Learn when to add EMDR trauma processing to the treatment once major traumatic memories have been stabilized and/or partially processed with Flash.
  9. Resource Installation for Parts: Learn ways to install resources to strengthen Parts, if needed, before and during EMDR processing.
  10. Identify Clinical Indicators for Using Blending and Fusion Techniques: Understand when and how to use Blending visualizations for short-term and long-term Blending/Fusion.
