About The Speakers

Dr. Linda Homeyer

Ph.D, LPC-S, RPT-S

Dr. Linda Homeyer is a Distinguished Professor Emerita of the Professional Counseling Program at Texas State University. Dr. Homeyer is proud to have been involved with the growing, vital, and prominent program that trains mental health professionals, working with a dedicated set of colleagues, and mentoring students on their professional journey. She has worked as a professional actress, but her work as an investigator of child abuse led her to her interest in counseling children. An advocate for children and play therapy, she participates extensively in service, teaching, and writing. Dr. Homeyer served several years on the Texas Association for Play Therapy Board of Directors and served two terms as President of the Association for Play Therapy (APT) Board of Directors. She received APT’s Lifetime Achievement Award in October 2013 and Director Emerita in 2016.

Marshall Lyles

LPC-S, LMFT-S, RPT-S

Marshall Lyles LPC-S, LMFT-S, RPT-S, lives in the Austin, Texas area and has 20 years of family and play therapy practice. Drawing on lessons learned from working with attachment trauma in a variety of mental health settings, Marshall regularly teaches on trauma, expressive therapies, and attachment-informed family work around the globe. In addition to maintaining a small clinical practice, Marshall also conducts supervision and consultation sessions with counseling professionals who are pursuing EMDR certification and RPT status, often with a particular focus on the use of sand tray therapy. Marshall has published in professional journals and magazines in addition to contributing to the books Counseling Families: Play-Based Treatment and EMDR with Children in the Play Therapy Room: An Integrated Approach.
